Management Netherlands Institute for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (NIGZ) was responsible for the central co-ordination organization, which included - overall internal management of the project - co-ordination between the different strands - evaluation of both process and results Project manager: dr. Gerard Molleman, director NIGZ-Centre for Knowledge & Quality management Project leader: Jan Bouwens* Project assistant: Marianne Smit GEP secretariat: email: gettingevidence@nigz.nl www.nigz.nl/gettingevidence. *Jan Bouwens has left the NIGZ office, February 2007. Communication In collaboration with EuroHealthNet in Brussels, NIGZ created possibilities for communication between all participants in the project, according to the Communication plan (PDF file 26 kB) Visibility was ensured through the use of personal contacts, the website and articles in key journals. The website provides accessibility to the final products of the project. Member organisations have access to protected areas of this website by logging in with a password thus facilitating communication between strandholders, members and partners and supporting the working process. A regular Newsletter was issued to keep members informed about the latest developments, news from the Strands and management organisation and a calendar of international relevant events. Strand-wise communication system was complemented by project-wise activities. Three Strand meetings were organized in the course of the project. They brought together all participating parties for the discussion of the project. The meetings successfully performed a number of functions: they were a source of updates on the project progress, a forum for exchanging views, and collecting feedback and comments, an opportunity to work together and contribute to the project development. The Steering Group, consisting of the three strandholders, management and communication staff, held its Kick-off meeting in March 2004. Regular communication with the project management took place through email and telephone conferences. They met as a group always one day prior to the Strand meetings. Outside evaluation Prof.dr.N.S. Klazinga (international expert in evidence and quality at AMC, University Amsterdam) contributed to the evaluation of the project. In this context the current and future documents of the project were studied, strand meetings were attended/observed) and project members and partners were interviewed. The focus of the evaluation was on the consensus and prospect of consortium building. The evaluation report presents an overview of performance during the project life time, along the criteria of effective management, communication and strong collaboration; the evaluation of the instruments; developmental process along the criteria of scientific rigor and consensus reached; the opinion of the project stakeholders on the project overall and the achieved results. The report finally concludes on the project success based on the overall evaluation criteria set out for the project: - the project runs to budget and on time - the project presents its promised deliverables and products - the project establishes lasting collaboration - the project disseminates the results widely. The final Evaluation report was presented to the European Commission as part of the Grant Agreement. Summary of the final Evaluation Report (PDF, 46 kB)
